History of Sahebabad Union

Background of Brahmanpara Upzila: Brahmanpara Upzila is an ancient town. During the British rule in the early nineteenth century, it was part of Kasba Thana. It was included in Burichang thana in 1954 for administrative convenience. Then in 1986 it was transformed into an administrative thana. As a result of administrative decentralization, this upzila was upgraded to a full upzila on 08 November 1983. This upzila is located at a distance of 22 km from Comilla district town. From this upzila it is possible to travel all over Bangladesh by rail and road. This upazila is the birth place of many talented people. Among them, the name of Major Md. Abdul Gani, the founder of Bangladesh East Bengal Regiment is particularly noteworthy.
